1) If you book a shoot with times and places and need to change it, please let the photographers know ASAP that this needs to happen since generally there is just more than a photographer on the shoot (i.e. makeup artists (maybe two ) and possibly a wardrobe stylist. If a cancellation happens, the day of the shoot, the photographer does not have any possibility of setting up other shoots to take your timeslot and this results in lost revenue for all those involved at the shoot and lost opportunity for other clientele who would have been able to use that time slot.
2) Pre-shoot preparations take JUST as much time as post production. A good photoshoot is a photoshoot where everything is planned out and the photographer and model BOTH know what they are trying to achieve. As a photographer, I tend to visualize what I want, how I want it, and how do I go about achieving it. At times, a photographer may presetup the lighting for the shoot if it is a studio shoot. Setup times are anywhere from 1-4 hours to get everything JUST perfect.
3) When you do book a shoot, expect it to be at min 6 hours for a shoot: Makeup can take up to two 2 hours alone to ensure that everything is PERFECT and sometimes the makeup itself is pretty intricate. Then it gives the photographer a couple hours per look and to adjust lighting as need be. Anything less than that, may make the photographer and his team feel rushed, resulting in poor images.
